Elder Futhark Runes
Explore all 24 runes as an early Germanic writing system: their sound values, reconstructed names, historical evidence, later rune-poem context, and clearly labelled modern interpretation.
Runes first functioned as letters representing sounds in names, words and inscriptions.
The conventional row is divided into three groups called ættir.

HOW TO READ THE ATLAS
Meaning without invented certainty
The literal gloss attached to a reconstructed rune name is not automatically a complete ancient spiritual definition. Each rune guide begins with writing and linguistic evidence, then treats modern reflection as a separate layer.
Upright and reversed readings can be used as a modern method, but they should not be advertised as one universal Elder Futhark system.
