Paganism is a doorway, not one room
These words often meet one another, but they do not mean the same thing. Open each window to see where it leads.
Paganism
An umbrella for many religious and spiritual paths engaging with pre-Christian religions, multiple deities, nature, ancestors, seasonal cycles or place. It has no single scripture, founder or universal practice.
Wicca
A modern Pagan religion that emerged publicly in twentieth-century Britain and developed into several traditions. It has influenced modern witchcraft, yet it remains one path within the wider Pagan landscape.
Witchcraft
A word used for varied practices, identities and historical ideas. A witch may be Pagan, Wiccan, part of another religion or non-religious. For many people it describes a practice rather than a religion.

01 Learn where a practice comes from
Ask which culture, community, period or modern author shaped it. Context gives a practice depth without taking away its mystery.
02 Respect closed and initiatory traditions
Not every ceremony, title or sacred object is open for personal use. Listen to living communities describing their own boundaries.
03 Keep spiritual and physical safety together
Use fireproof surfaces, ventilate smoke, identify plants before touching or burning them, respect wildlife and follow local rules.
04 Let experience refine belief
You may explore without making permanent claims about yourself. Reading, practice and time can deepen or change your understanding.
